Council wishes to advise that a full road closure (no traffic permitted) will be implemented on the following roads on Saturday, 25th April 2026 to enable the annual ANZAC Day event to be conducted. Road closures will be implemented from 9:00am, allowing the march to commence at the intersection of Eskbank Street and Main Street at 10.30am.
- Main Street, between Bridge Street and Ferro Street
- Eskbank Street, between Railway Parade and Main Street Lane (CBD)
- Bank Lane, between Main Street and Main Street Lane (CBD)
- Station Street, between Main Street and Gray Street
- Naomi Street, between Main Street and Naomi Street Car Park
- Sandford Avenue, between Gray Street and Main Street,
- Gray Street, at the intersection with Main Street and intersection with Sandford Avenue
- Lithgow Street, between Main Street and Mort Street
- James Street, between Young Street and Main Street
- Blanchard Lane, between Main Street and QE Park
- Hassans Walls Road, between Main Street and Main Street Lane (Extension Estate) and between The Avenue and Lithgow Street
- The Avenue, between Hassans / Ferro Lane and Hassans Walls Road
- Proto Avenue, between Peachman Avenue and Lithgow Street
Manned traffic control stations will be set up throughout the road closure area, with Traffic Controllers providing directions for through traffic monitoring traffic queues and allowing residential traffic to exit safely from Extension Estate. Residents are encouraged to exit the Extension Estate area via Methven Street, or if utilising Main Street between Ferro Street and Enfield Avenue, follow the directions provided by the Traffic Controller at the manned traffic control station, and not by removing or bypassing barriers installed at other locations. Manned traffic control stations will be set up at:
- Enfield Avenue / Main Street intersection
- Hassans Walls Road / Lithgow Street intersection
All through traffic (including heavy vehicles, from the Great Western Highway will be detoured via the established alternative detour route along Enfield Avenue, Methven Street, Wrights Road and Lithgow Street, rejoining the main road at Mort Street (and vice versa)
Roads will be reopened commencing from 1.00pm
