The gatehouse and the Reuse Shed are being upgraded.
From July this year, there will be changes to the way residents use the gatehouse and the Reuse Shed at the Lithgow Solid Waste Facility.
The Reuse Shed will be temporarily closed from 4.45pm, Sunday, 29 June until 10.30am, Wednesday, 9 July for work to be completed. Reusable items can still be left in the containers provided. When the Reuse Shed reopens, it will have new opening hours from 10.30am – 4.00pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
All other areas within the Lithgow Solid Waste Facility will remain open as usual during the upgrades; however, due to new software, from 1 July proof of residence, such as a driver licence or rates notice, will need to be shown at the gatehouse when entering. This will increase the time it takes to visit; however, proof of residence is a requirement at waste facilities in most other Local Government Areas and the changes are necessary to ensure compliance with contemporary regulatory requirements.
The popularity of the Reuse Shed since it opened in August 2023 has contributed to diverting over 270 tonnes from landfill. These upgrades and, the new operating hours for the Reuse Shed, will improve operational performance, supervision of the site and the experience for all visitors. Council appreciates the cooperation of everyone who uses the Lithgow Solid Waste Facility as these necessary improvements are implemented.
