Representatives from the Wallerawang Lidsdale Progress Association, Lithgow City Council, Transgrid and members of the community gathered this morning to celebrate the re-installation of the historic mine transporter at the Lake Wallace Playground.

The mine transporter is an iconic part of the Lake Wallace Playground which was recently removed and given a fresh coat of paint and then returned to its original site in a herculean effort to bring new life to the old transporter.

This project was a community led initiative from the Wallerawang Lidsdale Progress Association to repair and maintain the transporter, which has been a fixture in the park for decades.

The repairs were made possible by a generous community grant from Transgrid, with additional funding and support from Lithgow City Council.

With a fresh coat of paint, new seating and improved finishes the old transporter is looking better than ever.
