This week, the administration of Council reminded users of the Lake Wallace foreshore that open fires are not permitted at Lake Wallace. These restrictions are a condition of the lease held by Council.

Following some community feedback, a Council spokesperson provided further explanation, saying “we accept that many people have found it difficult to reconcile the idea of camping without an open fire. This has been heard loud and clear. Over the coming weeks, the Council’s administration will engage with the landowner to re-visit these operating arrangements. With further discussion, we are hopeful that an agreement can be reached that allows the use of fires to be safely reinstated.”
