Due to current rainfall, Browns Gap Road has been closed.
The continuing rainfall has exceed Councils Trigger Action Response Plan (TARP) measure which is in place to ensure risks to the public road users do not exceed tolerable safety limits.
The road will re-open to traffic travelling one way from Hartley to Lithgow once an assessment of the road condition can be completed.
Motorists travelling from Lithgow to Hartley must do so via the Great Western Highway.
The opening and closure of Browns Gap is subject to activation of the TARP measures which can be triggered at any time based on predicted heavy rainfall. To check the status of Browns Gap Road please refer to
