Waste Facilities

Lithgow Solid Waste Facility

The Lithgow Solid Waste Facility is the primary waste facility in the Lithgow Local Government Area. The facility includes a Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) and a landfill for residual waste..

The Resource Recovery Centre has areas for sorting different types of waste so that resources can be recovered for recycling and the amount of waste going to local landfill can be reduced.

Reducing the amount of waste disposed of in landfill helps to preserve landfill capacity, protect the environment and return resources to productive use.

Sorting your waste before you leave home makes it quick and easy to visit the Resource Recovery Centre.

The Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) includes:

  • Waste disposal skip bins,
  • Waste recycling bins,
  • A Community Recycling Centre for the following problem waste:
    1. Aerosols,
    2. Batteries (Car and household batteries),
    3. Fire extinguishers,
    4. Fluorescent globes and tubes,
    5. Gas bottles,
    6. Motor and other oils,
    7. Paint
    8. Smoke detectors.
  • A reuse shed for items in good condition to be re-used and upcycled.

The Community Recycling Centre (CRC) does accept problem waste from people who reside outside of the Lithgow Local Government Area.

Except for problem waste accepted at the Community Recycling Centre, Council’s waste facilities ONLY accept waste from residents and businesses of the Lithgow Local Government Area. Fines apply.
